PAIN
Acupuncture works wonders on pain. For both acute and chronic conditions it initiates a huge healing response that increases circulation and decreases inflammation. Sometimes the results are immediate and other times the treatment window is a day or 2. There is a saying in chinese medicine ‘If there is pain, there is stagnation. If there is no pain there is no stagnantion.’
Carissa has extensive experience in treating menstrual pain, low back pain, knee pain, migraines and headaches, trigger fingers, restless leg pain and neck pain.
WOMENS HEALTH

Acupuncture is such a gem in supporting fertility. Regardless of the approach on fertility, acupuncture supports egg quality, uterine lining, ovulation, hormone balance, implantation, healthy pregnancy, sustained pregnancy, secure pregnancy after miscarriage and health of the mother. It’s used worldwide around the globe for natural pregnancy as well as in conjunction with IUI and IVF treatments.
Carissa is an expert in the field of fertility. She’s been supporting women on their path to become mothers for 13 years with acupuncture.
HORMONE REGULATION
In addition to fertility, Carissa uses the principles of chinese medicine to support women in all areas of a Women’s hormonal life cycle. She uses herbs and acupuncture as well as dietary therapy to revive menstrual cycles if they have unnaturally stopped, to eliminate painful periods, to balance blood loss if it’s unbalanced, to balance emotional upheaval in relation to menstruation, to support new mothers to heal the challenges of postpartum, eases menopausal hot flashes, sleep disturbances and irritability and address fibroids, cysts and endometriosis.

MENTAL HEALTH/STRESS
Acupuncture directly works with the nervous system to invoke a calming effect. It can dramatically shift a heightened mood of overstimulation to one of calm centeredness. This is because of the direct shift it has on moving a person into a parasympathetic state. A parasympathetic state is that of rest, digest, heal and procreate. For that simple reason it is why it is so effective in supporting fertility, digestion, wound healing or pain, AND mood imbalance.
Carissa has used it for the entirety of her practice to treat varying degrees of insomnia(including very stubborn cases), rolling emotions, anxiety, depression, impatience, grief, anger, weepiness, exhaustion and even feelings of being spiritually drained. Chinese Medicine weaves in a spiritual and mental aspect to every acupuncture point. The chinese did not separate out emotional states or spiritual aspects of being human. For this reason, acupuncture serves as Carissa’s favorite treatment for mental health issues and the impact of stress.
BEAUTIFICATION/ADORNMENT
Carissa is professionally trained and certified in facial rejuvenation. Beautification and healing often come together. Feeling healthy, energetic and alive can be seen in a persons Shen. Shen in Chinese Medicine is referring to a person’s spirit as reflected in their eyes and complexion. The brightest Shen emanates from the harmony revealed from the inside out. A facial acupuncture treatment also includes a balancing of the entire internal terrain individualistically by increasing elastin and collagen in the face. A persons tongue, pulse and symptoms can reveal imbalances that can be shifted through body acupuncture. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture techniques always include balancing of the entire body to fully enliven the Shen.
